SRSC For Me

"SRSC For Me" allows students to track their physical activity, view their progress, and complete their goals.

✴ Project Overview

Members Emily, Jayda, and I worked together on a semester long project to design and prototype an app that can be accessible to all college students throughout IU. This app, "SRSC For Me!" , allows students to track their physical activity to view their progress. Along with tracking themselves, users will be able to compete with friends and view their workout profiles. This app gives the user access to multiple different features that can be beneficial to their own physical progress.

The aim of our project was to create an app that would allow its users to gain motivation, compete with friends, find nearby events, and find new workouts to do. We made this due to the fact that many college students don’t have the motivation to exercise. From our research, we concluded that a lot of people already work out and use apps, they listen to music, it's about 50/50 when it comes to needing motivation or not, and most work out multiple times a week. We designed an app to help college students exercise because the amount of physical activity one gets decreases once they get to college. We included ways to compete with friends as a way to keep everyone accountable for exercising, and we included sections for exercises, events, and progress to help the users keep up with their fitness. We chose the heuristic evaluation method to see how effective our app was. We used the 5 heuristic methods of recognition rather than recall, feedback, flexibility and efficiency of use, aesthetic and minimalist design, and match between system and the real world. From this, we found out that we didn’t have some core functions of our app like adding a variety of exercise options and the profiles of different users. After receiving this feedback, we created pages that directed the user to the appropriate muscle group and we created individual profiles for the user's friends.
